Georgia EV Tax Credit and Incentive Savings Calculator

Estimate your total savings from federal tax credits, Georgia-specific incentives, fuel savings, and maintenance savings when purchasing or leasing an electric vehicle in Georgia.

Used to estimate federal credit eligibility tier. BEV typically 40–100 kWh; PHEV typically 7–20 kWh.
Federal Clean Vehicle Credit income limits: Single ≤ $150,000 | Head of Household ≤ $225,000 | Joint ≤ $300,000.
The federal credit is non-refundable and cannot exceed your tax liability (for tax year 2023 purchases; point-of-sale transfer available from 2024).
Typical range: 2.5–4.5 miles/kWh. Check EPA label for your vehicle.
Georgia Power average residential rate ~$0.12/kWh.

Formulas Used

Federal Clean Vehicle Credit (§30D):
Credit = min( $2,500 + $417 × (Battery kWh − 5), Max Credit ) where Max = $7,500 (BEV) or $3,750 (PHEV); battery must be ≥ 5 kWh.
Subject to: MSRP cap (sedan ≤ $55,000; SUV/truck ≤ $80,000), AGI cap (single ≤ $150k; HoH ≤ $225k; joint ≤ $300k), and federal tax liability (non-refundable).

Federal Home Charger Credit (§30C):
Credit = min( 30% × Installation Cost, $1,000 )

Annual Fuel Savings:
Gas Cost = (Annual Miles ÷ MPG) × Gas Price/gal
EV Cost = (Annual Miles ÷ EV Efficiency mi/kWh) × Electricity Rate/kWh
Annual Fuel Savings = Gas Cost − EV Cost

Annual Maintenance Savings:
Maintenance Savings = Annual Miles × $0.05/mile

Georgia Annual EV Fee:
BEV: $211.43/year | PHEV: $105.72/year (O.C.G.A. § 40-2-151)

Total Net Savings:
Total = Federal Credit + Home Charger Credit + GA Power Rebate + (Annual Fuel Savings × Years) + (Annual Maintenance Savings × Years) − (Annual EV Fee × Years)
